During this project I learned to just go with it. I kept trying to plan everything out and come up with a complete idea before I even started. This caused me to put of the project for a long time because I couldn’t figure out what I wanted to do. Once I decided to just go with whatever I was doing and impulse took over, I found out that it was a lot less stressful and more creative way to complete art. As far as design goes, my typography wasn’t that good along with some other artworks from various students. Through this I learned that instead to take a picture of the artwork, upload it to the computer, and use illustrator to put the words on the artwork. This would then allow for not only the physical artwork, but then a digital piece too.
I feel that the junk mail was a hard aspect for most; however, I think it was good and made us think more. I like the hard concept of it, but I felt too limited. I feel that you should give us the choice of two or three different materials because with the material I was given I don’t think I made this art to my full potential due to my style. If I wasn’t completely limited by the junk mail aspect I may have been able to make things work with the style that I do and use the artwork in my portfolio. This project has made me think and appreciate design more. I enjoyed looking through the history of design and how it has changed with time. The process has encouraged me to now be more design conscientious.
I wouldn’t have painted on the “100% Pure Murder” and instead used illustrator to put the words on. I feel it would have made my work cleaner and classier.
